In Memoriam of Ved Prakash Pugal

30/07/2020

Ved Prakash came to Newcastle, England from India when he was 10 years old with his family. He completed an apprenticeship with Joyce Loebl where he became known as ‘Jackie Pugal’. He then moved on to NEI Parsons, where he worked as an electrical engineer for turbines until he retired. He was a very knowledgeable and skilled man, who could turn his hand to almost anything, he was our go to guy and happily helped fix your garden fence your TV or your car. Ved kept his mind active, was an avid chess player, loved to watch quiz shows, snooker, darts and wimbeldon in the long summers. He was kind and funny with his ‘typical’ Dad jokes. He had a modern mindset, was a young at heart Husband, Dad & Nannu (Grandfather). He was such a big presence in our lives, he was our strength when we needed it most. His loss is so profound and difficult for us to comprehend at this time. He was diagnosed with Lewy Body Dementia a few years ago and whilst there was an initial impact on his quality of life, he didn’t let this dampen his spirits, he still had a cheeky smile that would brighten any day. He loved to dance and would always tell us stories of when he took part in ballroom competitions back in the day. In his last months, he was quiet and unfortunately, his health deteriorated rapidly during his last few weeks. He sadly lost his battle with this disease on Thursday, 30th July 2020, aged 81 years. We will always remember him for the funny, carefree and charismatic father and grandfather he was. He was simply the best. He is missed every day, is always in our hearts and loved dearly.
