In Memoriam of Graham Wilson

16/06/2023

Our Grandad Where do we start? How do we explain? Losing you we feel so much pain! The memories though, will forever live on In our hearts you’ll never be gone. We always drew on huge Masons paper pads All our creations we took home to mum and dads Weekends spent with you and nan “Take your teeth out grandad, we know you can!” We visited the dairy together All that milk, we’ll remember forever You’d bring the family Ren Davis cream Poured on desert it was a dream Visiting the legion every weekend Waltzing the dance floor, quickstep round the bend Meat raffles, and calling the bingo It didn’t take long for us to learn the lingo! We’re told that you were a real ladies man, But, there was only one woman for you, and that was Nan! An infectious laugh Never did things by half National service to England runner Bournemouth or cruising holidays for the summer You were a referee and a goalkeeper Possibly the worlds best sleeper Your snoring was extremely loud And you always managed to sleep in a crowd You loved betting on the races Always put a smile on everyones faces A Norwich City fan And committed Rothmans man You loved the choir, and we often watched you sing Male voices only, we weren’t allowed to join in You walked the dogs with your infectious smile Even if you had lost them for a while Collecting the eggs and feeding the animals too There really is no one else like you At Christmas you always wore your cracker hat Never any leftovers, even ate the fat! Jam on toast, or eggs with tomatoes When it comes to food, actually anything goes! You loved your family We made memories so happily Your laugh was contagious And your humour, outrageous Thank you grandad for always being there So many stories we have to share For now we say goodbye, but we’ll see you soon We love you always, around the earth and to the moon Written by Jessica A loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.
