We took part in the national Dementia Action Alliance (DAA) Quarterly Meeting on 6 May which focused on ‘Dementia Friendly Environments’. Presentations included:
- How people with dementia experience buildings – insights from the DEEP (Dementia Engagement and Empowerment) project
- Resources to learn how to make the home and garden ‘dementia friendly’ from the University of Stirling
- Examples of good practice in designing buildings and outdoor spaces that are accessible to people with dementia from Pozzoni LLB, Salford Institute for Dementia and Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.We also had a sneak preview of the Public Health England/Alzheimer’s Society awareness campaign based around “With a little help from my friends” that aims to tackle the stigma of dementia and recruit a million ‘Dementia Friends’.
