Death of LBS Founder Patron
June 17th, 2008

On 30 March 2008 the Manuden (Essex) Singers performed a concert in aid of the Lewy Body Society to a sold-out audience at St Mary’s Church, Manuden. The concert, which included the Faure Requiem, raised an astonishing £1188.00 for the Society, a record-breaking amount for the Singers to raise at an event
After the Society’s terrific success at the International Psychogeriatric Association’s congress in Japan last autumn, the LBS had another well -received stall at the IPA’s European regional meeting held in Dublin on 8-12 April in conjunction with the Royal College of Psychiatrists’ Faculty of Old Age. With a well-positioned table, people escaped without noticing us or getting “stickered” and/or handed a brochure.

We are down to the last few packs of our exclusive Christmas cards. Place your order now to avoid disappointment and happy Christmas!

The Lewy Body Society made itself known at the 2nd UK Dementias Conference in Harrogate, North Yorkshire 5-7 November 2007. Our spotty stand caught the attention of delegates, many of whom signed up to join or help the LBS or buy Christmas cards. It was great to meet so many people involved in dementia care from throughout the UK and wonderful to learn of their support.
From 13-18 October 2007, the Lewy Body Society had a booth at the International Psychogeriatric Association’s conference in Osaka, Japan. Twenty five hundred delegates from around the world attended the IPA’s silver jubilee congress and a good number of them visited our display to learn about the LBS and sign up to join us or form DLB organisations in their own countries. We were the only charity exhibiting at the congress and made a terrific impact.
The Lewy Body Society was well represented on the Congress’ scientific programme. President Ian McKeith and MSAP members John O’Brien and Jane Byrne, who is also on the management committee, all made presentations to packed sessions. There was special session on DLB chaired by Prof McKeith.
Here are some pictures from the congress.
