Volunteers Wanted!

To try and help doctors diagnose the type of dementia a person has earlier and more accurately, Newcastle University in association with North East DeNDRoN ( the Dementias and Neurodegenerative Diseases Research Network) are seeking people with Dementia with Lewy bodies (DLB) to take part in a research project that hopes to enable people get the most suitable treatment for their condition sooner. They aim to do this by identifying subtle changes that take place in the brains of people with this condition through MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) scanning.

This ‘Brain Imaging Study’ involves recruiting people over 60 with DLB to have an MRI scan and undergo some brief memory tests on two occasions one year apart. If you have been diagnosed with Dementia with Lewy Bodies, or if you know of someone with this condition who would like to take part in this ground breaking study or wish to ask any questions, please ring Karen Morgan, Josh Morgan or Barbara Wilson at North East DeNDRoN on 0191 223 2740 or email: dendron@ntw.nhs.uk
